14 Weeks

How far along? 14 weeks...finally in our second trimester!!!!

Total weight gain/loss: at 12 weeks it was 9 pounds and should still be right around there.  I started at 132.

Maternity clothes? Oh yes.  Since week 4.

Stretch marks? I'm not really sure if they are old or new, but there are some on top of my belly that I dont remember being there previously.

Sleep: A ton during the day, but I have serious issues at night.  Also, pregnancy dreams are WAY too vivid for my liking.

Best moment this week: I brushed my teeth and did NOT have the urge to vomit!  HUGE deal for me.

Have you told family and friends: Oh, yes.  We couldnt keep it a secret at all.

Movement: Yes.  Not a lot cause it's still so little...there isnt much I would be able to feel, but there are definitely instances where I feel those tell tale butterfly flutters

Food cravings: It varies.  Potatoes though, fruit, red meat right now.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Certain smells, cooking meat.

Have you started to show yet: Again, week 4. I bloat something aweful....water retention is my worst nightmare.

Leakage: Bladder of course.  Seriously, who doesnt after three pregnancies?

Gender prediction: This one has me flip flopping A LOT.  I'm carrying like a boy, food cravings go either way, but at the same time the heart rate was 172 bpm which is high-indicating a girl

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? Still in....for now.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but I tire quickly and then get moody.

Weekly Wisdom: Naps are a girls best friend!

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
